Pain and IV Nutrition Therapy

IV (intravenous) nutrition therapy is a treatment approach that involves administering essential nutrients directly into the bloodstream through an intravenous line. This method bypasses the digestive system, allowing for more efficient absorption of nutrients and quicker delivery to cells and tissues. While there is some evidence supporting the use of IV nutrition therapy for certain conditions, it's essential to note that it should be used as a complementary treatment and not as a standalone solution for chronic pain and neuropathy.

  1. Pain Management: Chronic pain can be debilitating and challenging to treat. IV nutrition therapy may be used as part of a comprehensive pain management plan for patients suffering from chronic pain conditions. Some nutrients delivered through IV therapy, such as magnesium and certain B vitamins, have been suggested to have potential pain-relieving effects.
  2. Nerve Health: Neuropathy is a condition characterized by damage or dysfunction of the nerves, leading to pain, numbness, and tingling sensations. IV nutrition therapy may include nutrients like B vitamins (especially B1, B6, and B12), which are crucial for nerve health and function. These vitamins play a role in nerve regeneration and may help alleviate some neuropathic symptoms.
  3. Antioxidant Support: Oxidative stress is implicated in various pain conditions and neuropathies. IV nutrition therapy can deliver antioxidants like vitamin C and glutathione, which may help reduce oxidative damage and inflammation in the body.
  4. Immune System Support: Some chronic pain conditions and neuropathies are associated with immune system dysregulation. IV nutrition therapy can provide nutrients like vitamin C, zinc, and selenium, which play essential roles in immune function and modulation.
  5. Enhancing Overall Well-being: IV nutrition therapy can help address nutrient deficiencies, which can be common in chronic pain patients due to decreased appetite, dietary restrictions, or malabsorption issues. By correcting these deficiencies, patients may experience improved energy levels, better mood, and an overall enhanced sense of well-being.

We ensure that your IV nutrition therapy is administered by qualified healthcare professionals in a controlled medical setting. We help our patients design an individualized plan based on the your specific needs and medical history.  Again, IV nutrition therapy should not be viewed as a replacement for conventional medical treatments but rather as a complementary option to support overall health and well-being.

Additionally, patients with certain medical conditions, such as kidney or heart problems, may need to be cautious with IV therapy, and it may not be suitable for everyone.

IV  Nutrition therapy (Intravenous Therapy) is the administration of key vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and other health promoting nutrients directly into into the blood stream, bypassing the GI tract and Liver and severely limit absorption rates through the oral route. It is a particularly powerful and effective intervention for many conditions including acute and chronic illness. As well as for those that are just seeking health optimization and preventive healthcare. IV therapy works by introducing nutrient-rich solutions directly into the blood stream, allowing for higher blood levels of nutrients than is possible through supplemental oral intake. As a result, a significant concentration gradient is formed outside the cells, allowing for easier transfer of nutrients through the cell membrane, where the nutrients then act to enhance cellular/body function.

The solutions used in IV therapy consist of mostly the nutrients most utilized by our body systems and can be customized to meet each client's individual health needs.

One of the standards in the industry we use is “Myer’s cocktail,” as it is well tolerated by most patients and can be used to treat an array of conditions, including allergies, fatigue, and headaches.

IV therapy is useful in treating the following common symptoms & conditions:

  • Fatigue
  • Headaches/Hangovers
  • Dehydration
  • Heat Cramps, Heat Exhaustion (Heat Stroke is A medical Emergency and should go directly to the ER)
  • Muscle cramps & soreness
  • Stress/ Anxiety/ Depression
  • Skin, nail, and hair problems
  • Digestive disorders/ malabsorption

At Veritas Integrated Medicine and Rogue Valley Pain, Physical & Regenerative Medicine our qualified Medical Providers and nurses administer IV therapy in a relaxing, clean and safe environment.  The treatment is performed in our special procedure  room/IV suite. The nutrients are delivered intravenously either through a “push” (small volume of solution) or “drip” (a larger “bag” of nutrients). The procedure is generally painless and relaxing. Treatment times range from 20 minutes for smaller pushes to 3 hours for larger drip solutions. Patients are welcome to read, listen to music, sleep, or play with their favorite personal electronic device during appointments to pass the time.

How do I make an appointment? Contact the front desk staff to schedule your appointment. If you have questions about IV therapy, schedule a 15 minute complimentary consultation with our medical staff to determine if IV therapy is an appropriate treatment for you*.

*To ensure safety of treatment, recent blood work (within the last 6-12 months) must be reviewed by doctor prior to initiating therapy.
